The Travelling Whisky Case — design concept

Design concept — final photography of the finished piece will replace this image once the prototype is made.

The idea

Good whisky travels well.

The Travelling Whisky Case is built for those who take a finer path wherever they go: a proper serve, wherever you are. Two crystal tumblers, a jigger, a bar spoon and a pair of solid walnut coasters travel secured inside a case built with the same in-frame discipline, solid timber and hand-finished detailing as a Cambridge Bespoke kitchen.

Designed for whisky, cocktails and evenings worth remembering.

One of twenty-five

Each Travelling Whisky Case is individually numbered, from 1 to 25, with its own engraved brass plaque.

Every case is also accompanied by its own permanent digital provenance record — the same tradition observed for a fine watch, a piece of art or a handmade yacht — accessed by tapping or scanning the card supplied inside.

The craftsmanship within

A solid approach to a finer journey.

01

CNC-machined solid walnut frame

The case body is machined from solid walnut, not veneered board, then hand-finished.

02

Solid or real-walnut-veneered base panel

Timber used intelligently where structurally appropriate — always real walnut, never veneer over MDF or particleboard.

03

CNC-machined solid walnut insert

Deep, precisely machined recesses hold every glass and fitting securely in place, including glass recesses machined directly from solid walnut.

Deep, precisely machined recesses in solid walnut. Built to last a lifetime.

Every case carries its own story.

Tap or scan the card inside your case and it opens your own permanent page: your edition number, the materials used, the story of how your case was made, and a personal record that stays with the piece for as long as you own it.

The Collection

Edition. Atelier. Unique.

The Travelling Whisky Case is offered at three levels of commission. Every level retains the same Cambridge Bespoke construction and its own permanent Digital Provenance Record — the difference lies in materials, scarcity and the depth of individual commission work.

The Atelier Edition

One of ten. Made around you.

A highly personalised interpretation of the Travelling Whisky Case, individually commissioned from a selection of exceptional natural materials and finished specifically for its owner.

Every Atelier Edition begins with the selection of its individual materials. The walnut, natural stone, leather and metal finish are chosen specifically for the commission before the case is machined, fitted and hand-finished in Cambridge.

Cambridge Bespoke Unique

One design. One owner. One piece.

For clients who want something that will never be repeated, Cambridge Bespoke Unique offers a completely individual Travelling Whisky Case commission — not a fixed specification, but an object designed around one client from the ground up.

From £15,000

Including VAT

Commission a 1/1 Piece

Materials are sourced and agreed individually for each commission, and could include exceptional cabinet timbers such as burr or figured walnut and Macassar ebony; natural stones such as Honey Onyx, Carrara or Portoro marble; sterling silver, solid brass and 24ct gold-plated detailing; bespoke leather; marquetry; a family crest, monogram or hand engraving; and a fully individually designed fitted interior.

This list is illustrative, not a fixed menu — every Unique commission begins with a conversation about what the piece is for.

Materials, scarcity and commission work

Why the levels differ.

Founding Edition

The original Cambridge Bespoke design, produced as a tightly controlled edition of twenty-five.

Atelier

Rare natural materials, more individual finishing, client material selection and deeper provenance.

Unique

A completely new one-off object, commissioned around a single owner from the ground up.

Atelier materials

Rare materials, used sparingly.

The Atelier Edition — design concept, Honey Onyx and 24ct gold-plated detailing

Design concept — final photography of a completed Atelier commission will replace this image.

Honey Onyx — material concept, indicative only. Every slab varies.

Honey Onyx

A naturally translucent stone characterised by warm amber, cream and gold veining. Every section of Honey Onyx is different, allowing each Atelier Edition to carry a genuinely individual natural detail.

Available as removable whisky coasters, a lid inset, a small serving panel, a plaque surround or interior detailing — used elegantly, not as a standard feature of every commission.

24ct gold-plated detailing — material concept, indicative only.

24ct Gold-Plated Detailing

Genuine 24ct gold-plated brass detailing is available on selected components: the lock face, handle mounts, edition plaque, leather strap studs, decorative inlay or selected fittings.

Used as an accent, not the design itself — even at Atelier level, the case remains walnut first, precious materials second.

Cambridge Bespoke Digital Provenance Record

A record that grows with the commission.

Every case carries a permanent Digital Provenance Record, reached discreetly through the NFC card or QR code supplied inside. The card is simply the gateway — the record itself, documenting your piece for as long as you own it, is the feature.
